Descendants of the first Christians, George and Arlette
Anastas and their five children live in Bethlehem on the
main road near Rachel's Tomb. George owned and
operated an auto mechanic shop, and Arlette had a store
selling home accessories. After the construction of the
Separation Wall which cut off traffic to their shops and
apartment,
their businesses dwindled and their source of income
dried up.
They say
that when
God closes a door, he opens a window.
The internet has provided that window for Anastas family. With their partners in Bethlehem skilled in
embroidery and sewing, they make garments that provide
income for Holy Land Christians and contribute to the
sacramental life of Christians worldwide. |
